SAVE THE DATE: THE COLLECTIONS FASHION SHOW

The Stephens College Fashion Program announces its 80th Annual Student Designer Fashion Show, The Collections. This year’s show is a celebration of where the program has been and where it’s going. Three showings will be held at 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024 in Windsor Auditorium at Stephens College.

Every year, The Collections provides Stephens College fashion students the opportunity to present their hard work for all to see. Students spend countless hours researching, planning, sewing, and tailoring to bring their designs to life. Each garment is then presented to the Jury of Selection, a panel of fashion industry professionals who select only the best designs to be showcased at the fashion show.

Since 1944, the Stephens College Fashion Department has pioneered its own narrative focusing on cultivating and empowering the next generation of fashion professionals. Though the department was born out of the scrutiny of students’ everyday attire, individual expression has been a key part of campus culture for decades. Thus the birth of our 80th year’s theme, Construct, inspired the innate being of unconventional dress that Stephens students embody.

In various industries, the word “construct” holds a different meaning. In ours, to construct is to create clothing with a customized fit and style. At this year’s fashion show, we are celebrating everything a Stephens student has been and will continue to be. We are reclaiming our story and positively deconstructing and reconstructing how people perceive fashion while unraveling societal constructs surrounding women and fashion.
